The mission of BCAEP is to reduce the demand of addictive drugs and reduce the possibility of being a victim of violence in our binational border. The goals will be achieved, via the implementation of the following bi-national community activities for the Latino community.
1.Programs, conferences, certifications, binational graduate programs and training workshops to all groups interested from the private and public sector. It is intended that these programs can be offered with accreditation at a binational level
2.Technical assistance to border communities, schools, organizations, families and individuals interested in the establishment of strategies for prevention and treatment of addictions at an early stage.
3.Professional education for medical, mental health, educators, social workers and related fields interested in improving the quality of treatment and prevention programs with the Latino community.
4.The creation and dissemination of prevention and education materials on addictions tailored to the needs of the Latino population.
5. An 800 telephone number will be made available for individuals, families and organizations seeking out counseling and treatment referrals. This is also relevant for those cross border citizens that may be arrested by local police authorities in Mexico that may need to receive counseling and legal assistance in particular when arrested for DWI, and in cases where their human rights may be at risk or violated. A lawyer will be avaible 24 hrs to represent them at a nominal fee.
6.Organization of high quality conferences on prevention on addictions medicine geared toward the general public, medical, mental health, educators and related fields.
7.To provide leadership and influence in the implementation of public policies by local authorities in the prevention of addictions among Hispanic youth.
8.To obtain financing for this program from the public and private sector to make this program self-sufficient.
9.A violence prevention guide to stay safe from everyday violence in the borderland and avoid exposure to drugs.
